Investment firm failed after receiving multiple complaints

Curzon Capital Limited failed on 22 July 2022 after 173 complaints about the firm were received by the Financial Ombudsman Scheme (FOS), the majority of which related to bonds, including the Westway Property Bond.

Founded in 1999, the London-based investment manager was regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) from 2001 until 4 November 2018, when it was de-authorised by the regulator. Although the company is still active, its latest accounts show that it is now insolvent.

Curzon Capital described itself as an 'Alternative' investment manager, specialising in non-stock market investments such as Bonds and Loan Notes, aimed at providing fixed returns. The firm faced complaints to FOS for arranging unsuitable investments, a number of which were upheld.

Curzon Capital processed about £700 million through various alternative investment structures, focusing on renewable energy finance, climate related investments and carbon finance projects.

The firm later evolved into property-based investments, securing £15 million for a Polish Residential Property Fund, which specialised in purchasing off-plan apartments that would subsequently be rented out for income.

If you were advised by or arranged investment through Curzon Capital Limited to invest in the Westway Property Bond or any other alternative or high-risk unregulated investments, CP Financial Claims can assist you in claiming through the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
